Retinol is regarded as the gold standard in anti-ageing but many people mistakingly believe it is a deep exfoliator, however, it’s much more than that.
To find out everything that retinol can do for skin I spoke with Dr Zainab Al-Mukhtar, Cosmetic Dental Surgeon, and Facial Aesthetician of Harrow on the Hill Clinic in London.
Dr Zainab explains what the ingredient is, and the anti-ageing effects it can have on the skin. She says, ‘Retinol, a derivative of vitamin A, is known as an important skincare ingredient because it helps the skin in so many ways.’
‘Skincare products which include retinol’s increase the cell turnover of the skin, helping the production of key proteins such as collagen and elastin, amongst other benefits’ she says. ‘As a result, retinol improves so many skin complaints, including fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, and acne.’…
